Sat 9/14: Golden Corral (59th Ave & Northern)

Golden Corral is a buffet that seldom disappoints. I introduced my parents to it when I lived in Colorado and they’ve been hooked ever since. We went at the tail-end of lunch time and they were just starting to prep the dinner offerings. That works out because you pay a lower price for lunch but have the opportunity to enjoy dinner too! The restaurant was busy and we picked a table towards the back. A lot of the tables were still dirty and needed to be wiped.

For my first round, I got mashed potatoes (made from scratch), macaroni & cheese, awesome pot roast, BBQ pork (which I have only seen there one other time!), and a yeast roll. Everything was tasty. While we were eating, they announced over the intercom that all children must be accompanied to the buffet by an adult (first in English, then in Spanish). I hadn’t heard that announced before. It may be related to the fact that one of the last times I went there, the Chocolate Wonderfall was out of operation because a kid stuck his hand in it so they had to shut it down to be sanitized…

For my second trip I got a baked potato with chili. Then I visited the dessert bar for swirl soft serve and chocolate covered strawberries. Everything was good. There’s so much I want to eat here but I was full and had to stop. We had good service getting drinks refilled and plates cleared from our table. There were also several employees nearby, eating dinner between shifts. If you’re looking to overindulge, this is the place for you!
