Sat 8/17: Bobby Q (27th Ave & Dunlap)

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Phoenix. Their BBQ is excellent. I love that you can smell it outside as you’re walking from the parking lot. Met my parents there for lunch today. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with mashed potatoes. (FYI, their mac & cheese is excellent too!) The server brought out a basket of cornbread which is just delectable. Warm and buttery. So yummy.

The food was good as it always is. The server brought us some extra BBQ sauce (regular, they also have spicy). Be careful when pouring because it’s very hot and comes out fast! My only complaint about the pork was there was a tiny piece of bone in it, but that is not uncommon with pulled meats. The mashed (red) potatoes were creamy and very good. They are semi-loaded with little chives in them.

The manager stopped by toward the end of our meal to make sure everything was good. Our server was good with the exception that a water glass went dry for several minutes (though she was apologetic), and she forgot to bring out a little box for the cornbread my mom wanted to take home. For dessert, she offered their new apple cobbler, but we stuck with the complimentary mini donuts they bring out with your check. They are warm with cinnamon sugar, taste like churros, and melt in your mouth. Mmm mm! Love this place!
